Epilepsy Curriculum for Neurosurgeons

The Epilepsy Surgery Education Task Force, part of the International League Against Epilepsy’s (ILAE) Surgical Therapies Commission, has created a competency-based curriculum on epilepsy tailored for neurosurgeons. This curriculum is intended to serve as a foundational guide for epilepsy surgery training centers around the world.

All interested individuals are invited to take 10 minutes to share their feedback on the proposed program.

We encourage you to submit your comments and kindly request that you share this information with your colleagues. Your input is highly valued.

WHO IGAP Implementation Toolkit

The World Health Organization (WHO) has released the publication “Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and Other Neurological Disorders 2022-2031: Implementation Toolkit,” available for download at this link. This publication offers guidance on implementing the strategic goals of the Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and Other Neurological Disorders (IGAP).

IGAP’s strategic goals encompass areas such as policy and governance, effective and timely diagnosis, treatment and care, promotion and prevention, and research, innovation, and information systems.

Epilepsia Open® special issue

Epilepsia Open® is now accepting submissions for a special issue focused on neurotechnology and artificial intelligence in epilepsy research.

Emerging technologies can significantly enhance the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy, addressing challenges such as complex differential diagnosis, the dynamic nature of the disease, the need for long-term monitoring and treatment, unpredictable morbidity and mortality, frequent comorbidities, and various personal and social impacts.

17th Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy

We would like to invite you to the upcoming summer school on epilepsy, entitled “17th Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy.” The event will be held online in the afternoons of August 15, 16, 26, 28, and September 2, 2024.

The summer school is primarily aimed at young medics, scientists, and doctoral students, generally under 40 years of age.

All topics will be related to the ILAE Academy curriculum.

Forty participants will be accepted, who will work in four independent groups.

The deadline for submissions is June 15.

Immunotherapy and new onset refractory status epilepticus

We are pleased to share information regarding newly published review article on the role of immunotherapy in managing new onset refractory status epilepticus. The article, titled “Second-line Immunotherapy in New Onset Refractory Status Epilepticus” by Aurélie Hanin, Eyal Muscal, Lawrence J. Hirsch, was released on March 2 in the journal Epilepsia. This publication comes highly recommended by the ILAE for its insightful contributions to the field.

9th London-Innsbruck Colloquium

You are cordially invited to attend the 9th London-Innsbruck Colloquium on Status Epilepticus and Acute Seizures.
